MCSS Award for Excellence

MCSS presents the Award for Excellence to deserving educators who have contributed to social studies in Maine. Through granting this award, MCSS brings deserving attention to outstanding Maine Educators. The contribution may come in a variety forms, such as:

• Excellent elementary or secondary classroom teaching

• Creation of elementary or secondary social studies curriculum materials

• Enhancing the profession of teaching through dedicated inservice or preservice teacher education

• Defending academic freedom in the social studies classroom

The Award for Excellence is presented to one deserving individual each year. The presentation of the award is made during our annual conference in the spring.
