The MLR performance indicators listed below are for illustrative purposes. Depending on the focus of the lessons as developed by individual teachers, these indicators may or may not be addressed. Conversely this is not a definitive listing of all of the performance indicators which could be addressed in this lesson.

Task Description

Students will identify “space”. Each has his/her own space (desk). Expand on that, what other spaces, individual or shared, are there? These can be expanded to individual rights such as speech and property.

Student Product/Performance

Students will create a poster illustrating a person’s individual space(s). The poster could be an outline of the student him/herself will cartoon balloons illustrating the different individual rights (a balloon from the mouth could be speech).

 Resources    

Large poster paper
Drawing materials, etc.

Criteria for Evaluating Quality of Product or Performance

Student will present their posters to the class for discussion purposes, or have them displayed for parent visitations. Posters should show students followed directions, used appropriate words, were complete, neat, and organized.
