 Dealing with disorderly conduct, preparing for emergencies, be they ice storms or floods, are what immediately come to mind when one thinks about what local government does to provide order and security. But it’s also about:
  • the orderly growth of a community,
  • protecting its wetlands against development,
  • providing for a safe community, and
  • establishing order through permitting and licensing

Providing Order and Security focuses on the tools available to local government and its citizens, be it the development of a comprehensive plan or a shore land zoning ordinance or the work of the code enforcement or animal control officer, or the licensing of junk yards.
