Legal Services Department:

A key component of the Maine Municipal Association's technical assistance service is the Legal Services program.

The Association employs six attorneys and a legal secretary to provide a direct legal assistance program to our membership that is unique to state municipal leagues. Our staff has over 100 years of combined experience in municipal law.

Legal advice is also provided through Maine Townsman Legal Notes and articles; manuals explaining the responsibilities of various municipal officials, seminars and other training programs, and the collection and preparation of sample ordinances and information packets which are available through Legal Services or on the Municipal Resources area of this web site.
