PowerPoint: Applying a Design

PowerPoint has a number of predesigned templates. They control the background image and color scheme; text size, location, and color; bullets and much more.

You can apply a template design at any time. You can also change the design by applying another design template at any time.

The design on ALL slides will be changed if the template is changed.

To Apply a Design:

New Presentation

a. In the "Create a new presentation using" window, select "Template."

b. Pick a design from the "New Presentation" menu.

By clicking once on each design name, you can preview the design in the window to the right. Double click or "OK" if you wish to apply the design to the presentation.

At this time, you could also select some prepared presentations for specific purposes by clicking the "Presentations" tab at the top and selecting one.

In an Existing Presentation

a. Select "Apply Design" from the "Common Tasks" floating palette or from the toolbars (whichever version you are using).

b. Select the desired design from the Apply Design menu window. Single click to view; double click to apply.
