Recent instructions from the Department of Public Safety:
Questions have been received at the Commissioner of Public Safety office on the COPS grant applications for funding to hire police officers.  Many have asked relative to question # 19 if a municipal or county application for these funds must be submitted to the State Planning Office for review pursuant to EO 12372.  The answer is no. The State Planning office has indicated that no law enforcement agency is required to submit their COPS application, or for that matter, any Recovery Act applications,  to them for review.   For any other questions concerning this process, please contact Mary Lucia at 626-3800.
