Liens Manual - New Edition Available

Just released is the eighth edition of the Guide to Tax Liens
which has been renamed Guide to Municipal Liens  to
reflect the fact that municipalities must address liens
other than those for real and personal property taxes.

As in past online versions, many of the forms are interactive
meaning that you may type into the fields and then print the
document. Probably the most convenient way to use these
forms is to save them to your machine and just open them
when needed.

If you have saved forms to your machine in the past, now is
the time to check and update them with the forms in this
new manual edition.

2008 MMA Convention

Mark your calendars now for the 2008 MMA Convention,
October 8-9, at the Augusta Civic Center.

This year’s convention will be a day-and-a-half event,
like last year, starting off with a Wednesday luncheon.
The guest speaker for this Opening Luncheon will be
distinguished newspaper and television journalist David
Broder. Called “the high priest of political journalism,”
Broder writes a twice-weekly column on American politics
for the Washington Post. A Pulitzer Prize winner in 1973,
Broder is a regular TV commentator on Meet the Press,
Washington Week and CNN’s Inside Politics.

Broder will provide insight on the upcoming November
presidential election and how those results may affect
state and local governments.

The 2008 MMA Convention will be loaded with information
that all elected and appointed municipal officials can use.
Don’t miss it. Updates on the convention will be put in future
issues of the Townsman and posted on the MMA web site.

FMLA HR Toolkit Updated

The FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act) Toolkit has been
updated as of 4/7/08 to reflect changes in the Federal laws.

Web Sites & E-mail Interruption

MMA is changing ISP providers starting this Friday at 5:00 pm.
This may cause an interruption in the availability of the MMA
sites as well as other Affiliate Group sites which we host.
Listserv and e-mail delivery will also be impacted.
Everything should be operational again by Sunday.

If you have questions about this, please contact the ResourceCenter@memun.org.
