Citizen Education Program
Last fall, MMA embarked on a Citizen Education
Program
aimed at creating greater citizen
understanding of, participation
in, and appreciation
for Maine local government.
In January of this year, the following five communities were selected to participate in the program during 2009: Ellsworth, Liberty, Milford, Saco and St. Albans.

Health Trust Annual Meetings
Every year in August, the Health Trust offers a series of Annual Meetings at three regional locations around the state. These meetings allow Health Trust staff the privilege to personally connect with members and provide a formal report on program operations, finances and activities. They also provide Health Trust participants an opportunity to raise questions or issues of concern.
The Health Trust 2009 Annual Meetings will be held on the dates and at the locations listed below.

Please note: The Health Trust Retiree Workshops have just been announced. All retirees will be receiving a separate notice mailed to home addresses regarding the Retiree Workshops being scheduled for late summer. Retirees can reserve space for Retiree Workshops by registering online.

June Winner - Full MMA Conference Registration

as the June winner of a free two-day registration for MMA's Annual Convention, October 7 - 8 at the Augusta Civic Center.
We'll be drawing another winner for July, so go to the
Annual Convention's Attendees Information area and enter to win.
The entry form is at the end of the informational page. If you
have already entered, your entry will still be included in the July and
August drawings.
Salary Survey Questionnaire was sent out at the end of
June and needs to be returned by
July 29th.
It is very important that as many municipalities as possible
participate. The more data submitted; the more valuable the
results will be.

Risk Management Services Partners with Members to Promote Safety
The Safety Enhancement Grant and Scholarship Grant Programs offer financial incentives to members of the Maine Municipal Association Workers Compensation Fund. Safety Enhancement Grants are used to purchase safety equipment or services that assist in reducing the frequency and severity of workplace injuries.
The Maine Municipal Association has been awarding safety grants to Members of their Workers Compensation Fund since 1999. The Grant program has assisted municipalities by bestowing $1.8 million through funding of 1428 Safety Enhancement Grants and 307 Scholarship Grants.
