24 Sessions at the Technology Conference!
So much to tell you about and so little space! You will be receiving a series of e-mails from MMA over the months of January-February. Each e-mail will focus on some specific topics being offered at the conference - GIS, Hands On computer programs, Broadband, and special programs focusing on current issues in municipal government (FOAA & E-mails, Liability & Security, Using Facebook to Engage Your Citizens, and the Economics of Buying Technology).

Updates to Two Legal Info Packets
Right to Know Law packet reflects 2011 changes to the law concerning "mandatory records" and changes to the executive session section.
Municipal Employee Discipline packet in the HR Toolkit area has a newly developed Links & Resources section.
Interest in GIS but don't know where to start?
The Maine GIS User Group is offering two sessions "GIS 101: Basic Concepts and Uses for Local Government" and "ESRI Introduction Part 2," which will give you the basics and the vision of how GIS can be used by local governments. These workshops are geared toward assessors and planners as well as other local officials or employees.
MEGUG is also offering six other GIS workshops you won't want to miss.

Highlighting Hands On Training at Technology Conference
Space is limited!
There will be 3 hands-on sessions for honing your computer skills at the Municipal Technology Conference. There will only be 10 or 12 computers at which people can double up. You may also bring your laptop if it has Windows 7 and MS Office 2010, and participate.
Importing Excel Data into PowerPoint 2010 - Atendees will learn to bring data into a PowerPoint slide show from an Excel workbook, and link back to the source workbook.
Formulas in Excel 2010 - This session will focus on the basics of how Excel uses mathematical formulas to calculate various mathematical values.
Mail Merge with Word 2010 - This session will describe the use and benefits of Word 2010’s Mail Merge capabilities.

GovOffice User Group at Technology Conference
The User Group meeting is always a popular part of the annual Technology Conference for actual users (over 70) as well as those interested in finding out about a web site content management system.
Be sure to learn about new features that GovOffice will introduce in 2012, they’ll also address online payments, best practices and contemporary design solutions.
All users should attend this important session. Our aim is to help you strengthen your municipal online presence.

Jeff Kendall, Maine Revenue Service, has identified the following 6 workshops at the Technology Conference that "could qualify" for continuing education credits.
GIS 101: Basic Concepts and Uses for Local Government, ESRI Intro Session Part 2, Luncheon Speaker: Dave Hobbins, GeoLibrary Adopts Land Use Codes, GovOffice User Group, and Formulas in Excel 2010.
