FREE Hate Crimes Training Offered by UMA on June 2

Across the country, hate crimes are underreported, making it difficult for government officials to respond appropriately. Thirty-eight states do not mandate that their law enforcement academies provide instruction on hate crimes.

Join us for training on how to effectively respond to and investigate hate crimes and support communities impacted by bias motivated violence. This training explores both the historical context of hate crimes and accompanying federal and state legislation. We discuss how hate spreads online and how law enforcement can work with Meta to further their investigative efforts. Most notably, participants will hear from hate crime survivors and families who have lost loved ones to hate fueled violence. They will share best practices on how officers effectively engaged with them when the crime was reported and during the investigation.
