The County of Knox has an ongoing need and is therefore currently accepting applications for per diem Corrections Officers for the Knox County Jail. Applicants must be high school graduates or equivalent, have no criminal record and be in good health. Applicants must have successfully completed the Basic Corrections Officer Training Program of the MCJA or have the willingness to do so, and have a valid Maine driver’s license. Applicants will be required to pass a written exam, the standard MCJA physical assessment, a polygraph exam, an oral board, and an extensive criminal and motor vehicle background check. Applicants will also need to have taken the ALERT test through the MCJA (see the application form for more details). The salary for per diem corrections officers is $15.24/hr. This position works on an on-call, as needed basis; however, applicants who have other jobs or obligations will be able to specify the time frames that they are available.
