Finance Office Assistant
Part Time 20 Hours per Week
Temporary to Permanent Position
The primary purpose of this role is to provide support for the finance office including basic accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, preparation and mailing of bills, and preparing warrants under the supervision of the Finance Director and the Tax Collector.
Work includes cash handling, recordkeeping, and routinely handling questions regarding finance and taxes and answering phone calls.
The successful candidate must have knowledge of basic bookkeeping and accounting practices, proficiency in computer programs, have the ability to reconcile accounts and balance cash drawers, and keep accurate records. Must be organized, have good communication skills and be willing to maintain working relations with staff and residents of the town.
Must have graduated high school and have further education in accounting and finance or equivalent experience. Municipal experience with Trio software or similar accounting system(s) preferred.
Hourly wage commensurate with experience.
