The Town of Durham, Maine is seeking a Fire-Rescue Chief/EMA Director with a broad and varied professional fire and rescue background, who has demonstrated success in leadership. He/she will have an established reputation as a confident, dynamic leader from a progressive, well managed Fire-Rescue department; will be current in modern management practices and will have well-developed skills in strategic planning, people management, conflict resolution, organizational analysis, and consensus building.
The successful candidate will need to be very familiar with the operations of volunteer/per diem department and will have an understanding of the legal and public policy environment such a service operates in, as well as the best management practices of that field. He or she will be constantly on the lookout for ways to maximize the responsiveness and innovation of the services the Town of Durham provides its residents while controlling costs.
The ideal candidate will be experienced and confident managing a workforce of volunteer/per diem firefighters, EMTs and paramedics; will be a strong leader and an outstanding administrator who works well with other departments and administration, and will be active and visible in the community.
