Town of York - Harbor Master

The Town of York, a coastal community comprised of the villages of Cape Neddick, York Harbor, York Village and York Beach, is accepting applications for the position of Harbor Master.

The Harbor Master is responsible for overseeing the activities and operations as well as the enforcement of Federal, State and Local laws, rules and regulations pertaining to York Harbor. Work involves keeping the traffic channel open through the direction of boat traffic, assignments of moorings and general maintenance of Town docks and facilities. The incumbent will attend all meetings of the York Harbor Board. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Police Chief (or designee), Harbor Board, Board of Selectmen and Town Manager.

High school diploma or equivalent required. The candidate will have a Maine Criminal Justice Academy active full time or Pre-service Training Certificate. A non-MCJA certified candidate will be required to complete at a minimum the Maine Criminal Justice Academy Law Enforcement Officer Pre-Service Training Program within six months of the appointment. Previous Harbor Master, Marine Resources Officer, Marine Warden or other marine based enforcement experience preferred.

The Harbor Master is a non-exempt, predominately seasonal position that requires night and weekend work particularly during the peak boating season. Salary dependent upon experience and qualifications.
