Recycling/Hauling

Background

The Town of Clinton operates a solid waste transfer station and recycling center located at 41 Old Lenoard Woods Road.  This facility is shared with the Town of Benton, a total population of 6,500.  The facility is staffed with a minimum of two attendants Wednesday through Saturday, 7am-4:45pm.

Scope of Services

Containers

  • Recycling: One (1) 50-yard roll-off container
  • Metal: One (1) 40-yard open top roll off container

 

Currently our solid waste and recycling is taken to one of three facilities that include the following:

  1. Recycling Hauling- Penobscot Energy Recovery (PERC)- Orrington
  2. Metal Hauling- Kennebec Metal and Recycling- Oakland

Payment Schedule-Payments will be placed on the treasurer’s warrant schedule for the fourth Tuesday of each month.

Fuel Surcharge: If diesel fuel prices rise above $5.00 per gallon, a surcharge of $35 will be added to each haul.

Insurance Certificate- The hauling company shall provide the Town of Clinton with current Certificate of Liability Insurance.

Terms of Agreement: The terms of the agreement will begin July 1, 2023, and will run for a 1–3-year contract.

Sealed bids must be received no later than Tuesday, May 30th, 2023, at 4:45 p.m. at Clinton Town Office, 27 Baker Street, Clinton, Maine 04927.
