AIRPORT ENGINEERING & FACILITIES INTERN

The Portland International Jetport (PWM)

 

The Portland International Jetport (PWM) is seeking an intern to join our staff for the summer of 2025. The selected candidate will gain exposure to the Airport Engineering & Facilities department, which will include tasks such as construction management, facilities management, and facility engineering (MEP, Architecture, etc.).

 

Requirements:

 

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Architectural), Architecture, Construction Management, or related field.

• Perform daily terminal inspections and safety checklists.

• Assist in the planning and coordination of construction and renovation projects, including scheduling, budgeting, and contractor coordination.

• Support the team with technical tasks such as reviewing drawings, conducting site inspections, and updating documentation.

• Participate in facility audits, preventive maintenance planning, and asset management tracking.

• Research materials, building codes, and green building standards as needed.

• Use construction management and design software to support ongoing Jetport projects and internal facilities needs. (Bluebeam, Procore, Autocad, Revit, etc.)

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Architectural), Architecture, Construction Management, or related field.

• A valid Class C drive license is required.

• Must be able to pass a TSA/FBI background check and possess an airport SIDA badge.

• The applicant should be familiar with Microsoft Office and Google environment software such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Docs, Slides, and Sheets. Familiarity with Autodesk design software, specifically Autocad and Revit, is a plus.

• The candidate should also have strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills and excellent oral and written communication skills.

 

Expected Hours/Schedule:

 

This is a ten-week assignment, working 37.5 hours per week, $22.50 per hour, Monday-Friday, 8 am - 4:30 pm with one hour for lunch.
