Pay Scale: $23.28-$24.58/hour

Job Summary:
The Correctional Release Specialist is responsible for assessing inmates for pre- and post-conviction community correctional programs; assisting in developing, implementing, evaluating, and monitoring contracts; and developing communication and cooperation among outside agencies, treatment/service providers, and the judicial system.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Screen and assess individuals to determine eligibility for release programs
- Attend criminal justice proceedings to establish Correctional Release contracts
- Conduct inspections and compliance checks as required
- Monitor and apply electronic monitoring/breath testing applications
- Oversee and assign programming services for released individuals
- Consult with medical and mental health correctional staff when appropriate
- Effectively communicate with correctional supervisors, the programs department, and intake
- Prepare reports, forms, documents, and statistical data as required
- Communicate with local law enforcement, prosecutors, and defense counsel as required
- Assist with PACE Program, furlough releases, and home confinement
- Monitor the collection of program fees as required
- Perform other related duties as required
Knowledge/Skills/Experience required:
High School diploma or equivalent required, with 2 years clerical work experience in related field preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office required. Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, data entry, file management and record maintenance is required. Knowledge of Spillman records management system preferred. Ability to effectively communicate with the public is required. Ability to work in a team setting with commitment to high level of customer service is required. Must be able to pass pre-employment background investigation.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/G.E.D.
- Successful completion of departmental testing, screening, and oral boards
- Must have a valid motor vehicle driver’s license
- Successfully complete physical assessment
- Corrections Certified
- Preferred: 2-year law enforcement degree, full- or part-time law enforcement experience
Requirements:
- Successfully pass a full personal, criminal, and motor vehicle background check
- Successfully complete a Polygraph
- Successfully pass pre-employment drug screening
- Must be 21 years of age or older
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The ideal candidate will work well cooperatively with the Sheriff’s office and vendors maintaining a rapport with them. Punctuality and time management will be a key skill to maintain the work load effectively. The individual must be neat and professional, with a quality of work that is evident through progress.
Physical Demands/Conditions/Requirements:
While performing the duties of this position, employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard. Light to moderate lifting is required (up to 25 lbs.)
