Full Time Firefighter/EMT Job Posting   

The Town of Berwick is seeking applications for the position of full time Firefighter/EMT.

This position is contingent upon approval of 2025 department operational budget in July 2024.

The Berwick Fire Department is a combination-staffed department, consisting of 5 full-time staff, 5 Per Diem staff and approximately 21 on call members. The Department provides non-transport emergency medical services in conjunction with our transport provider, Stewart’s Ambulance. The Department currently responds to over 1000 calls per year.

This position requires skilled firefighting and EMS work consisting of combating, extinguishing and preventing fires, as well as providing medical aid within the community. This position requires the performance of hazardous tasks under emergency conditions and training for participation in duties of protecting life and property through performing firefighting and rescue activities. Duties between calls include housekeeping, maintenance and interacting with the public and other related duties.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent:
  • Firefighter 1 & 2
  • EVOC certification
  • Valid Class B driver license
  • Driver Operator certification which includes Pumps
  • Valid Maine EMS Basic EMT or higher.
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to work 24-hour shifts including evenings, nights, and weekends.
  • Ability to successfully complete oral board and Physical Agility testing processes.
