Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Patrol Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining safety and security within assigned areas, responding to incidents, and enforcing laws and regulations. This role requires strong observational skills, the ability to handle various situations with professionalism, and a commitment to community service.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular patrols of designated areas to deter and detect criminal activity.
• Respond promptly to calls for assistance, emergencies, and incidents requiring law enforcement intervention.
• Engage with the community to foster positive relationships and provide support.
• Perform surveillance operations to monitor suspicious activities and gather evidence.
• Prepare detailed reports on incidents, investigations, and daily activities.
• Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies when necessary.
• Maintain knowledge of local laws, ordinances, and departmental policies.
• Participate in training programs to enhance skills in criminal investigation, leadership, and report writing.
• Facilitate the movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
• Apprehend persons violating the law or wanted by lawful authorities.
• Other duties consistent with law enforcement practices and procedures, job description, and department policies

Qualifications

• Have at least two (2) years of post-secondary education.
• Be at least 21 years of age at time of employment.
• Possess a valid Maine operator’s license.
• Pass the Alert Test with a qualifying score.
• Completed or be willing to attend the Maine Criminal Justice Academy "Basic School" as prescribed by the State, unless officially waivered by the Academy.
• Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Physical fitness to perform the duties required of the position, including standing for extended periods and responding swiftly to incidents.
• Periodically required to train and qualify in the use of firearms, vehicles and specialized law enforcement practices and equipment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $31.74 - $37.89 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
