Patrol Deputy for the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office

Franklin County is currently recruiting a full-time Patrol Deputy. This position is responsible for responding to law enforcement calls for service and the protection of life and property, prevention of crime, apprehension of criminals, and the enforcement of criminal law within the jurisdiction of Franklin County. In addition, this position will establish and maintain effective working relations with the community.  This agency has a strong commitment to Community Policing Models. 

Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to exercise sound, independent judgment and to render objective decisions in the application of Maine Criminal Law. 
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and prepare clear, comprehensive reports.
  • No Disqualifying Criminal Convictions or Disqualifying Conduct as mandated by Maine Criminal Justice Academy Board of Trustees
  • This position will require the completion of a Polygraph Examination
  • This position may require the completion of a Psychological Examination
  • Per Maine State Statute Title 25: 2804-G Qualifications: Applicant must be 21 years of age or older at time of application; or 20 years of age with at least 60 credits of postsecondary education or an associate degree.
  • Previous completion the Maine Criminal Justice Academy Basic Law Enforcement Training Program or waiver for an out of state equivalent (preferred)

The starting rate of pay for this position is $26.97. Health, dental, vision, short-term disability, retirement plan options, paid time off, and fitness reimbursement benefits are available. Additionally, this position qualifies for the public service loan forgiveness program (PSLF).
