The Town of Skowhegan, Maine (population approx. 8,620) is accepting resumes for a Fire Chief with strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Annual salary negotiable with experience plus excellent benefits. The Chief reports to the Town Manager and is responsible for the effective management of the department’s operations and resources. The department consists of 1 Deputy Chief, 12 full-time and approximately 18 paid call persons. Desirable training and experience include three (3) years of experience in budgeting, fire prevention/training, a proven record in positive public relations, and have a good community service-oriented philosophy. Must possess a valid State of Maine motor vehicle operator’s license and graduation from high school, preferably supplemented by completion of degree programs in fire science and managerial or supervisory training.
