WEMS is seeking a dynamic and collaborative management professional to serve as a full-time Captain/Paramedic. This is a responsible administrative, technical, and supervisory position. This position manages all shift operations and team members as designated by Administration. In addition, this position also serves provides regular Paramedic services.
The successful candidate will have effective leadership skills with the ability to adapt to, and to exercise independent judgement during highly unusual and often stressful emergency conditions is essential. The candidate must possess excellent internal and external communication skills, be results drive, and foster a positive, harmonious work environment that promotes employee involvement and accountability.
Additionally, the candidate must also possess the following:
• High school degree or equivalent; minimum age of 18 years
• Certification as a Maine paramedic; National Registered preferred
• Hold Certification in ICS 100, 200, 700; 300 within one year
• Be a WEMS Field Training Officer within 1 year
• Leadership and management training/experience
• Approved Instructor Coordinator within 1 year
• Maintain and hold a valid driver’s license
Work Hours:
May 19, 2025, to June 27, 2025, a 40-hour work week will be followed with a transition to a 42-hour week starting June 30, 2025
June 30, 2025, going forward all full-time EMS Captains will work based on an 8-week rotating cycle of the following:
24 hours on duty / 48 hours off duty /24 Hours on duty / 96 hours off duty
