The Livermore Falls Sewer Department has an immediate opening for an Operator/Mechanic.  This position is responsible for sewer pump stations maintenance and safety programs, assisting the plant’s operator and collection system operator, and performing sewer main additions, maintenance, repair, mapping and investigating problems.  Additional duties are testing receiving water, wastewater and biosolids, maintaining easements, yard and ground maintenance and basic paperwork and calculations related to the lab sheets. 

Desired qualifications:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to obtain a Maine Grade II Waste Water Treatment Plant Operator Certificate
  • Experienced in the areas of safety and equipment operation/maintenance
  • Mathematical knowledge in both the English and metric systems
  • Capable of performing and understanding basic wastewater lab tests
  • Able to perform manual labor and work in confined spaces
  • Able to attend training as necessary

Schedule is 4 10-hour days with rotating week (Monday to Friday); overtime may be required and must be willing to be part of a rotating on-call schedule.  The town offers a generous benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, and life insurances and MainePERS retirement.
