The town of Canton is seeking a full time (40 hours) Town clerk, Tax Collector, Secretary to the Selectmen. Work responsibilities include the preparation, and maintenance of all Selectmen records and other official municipal documents and ordinances, Supervision of elections and election staff, registrar of voters, issuance of various licenses and permits, processing payroll & Accounts payable, recording various documents and vital statistics, providing clerical assistance to the Selectmen, and other tasks and duties as assigned.
Work involves extensive public contact and customer service. Must have skills in records maintenance, and report preparation. Work requires knowledge of modern office procedures, practices, and equipment, including the use of computers and software. Work is performed in accordance with local ordinances, and state laws. The position requires initiative, judgement, and the ability to work independently and with the public and other officials.
Evening attendance of twice monthly Selectmen meetings will be required as well as extended hours during elections.
Strong preference given to those with prior experience in a municipal clerk’s office and experience with TRIO software. Salary negotiable based on experience.
