CIVIL ENGINEER I – CONSTRUCTION INSPECTION

PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT

 

 

The City of Sanford is seeking a highly qualified candidate to fulfill the position of Civil Engineer I – Construction Inspection with the Department of Public Works.   

 

The successful applicant will be a well-rounded, personable, and driven Civil Engineer for work on Sanford’s Engineering Division team.  This applicant will be an excellent communicator whether in-person, in-writing, or by electronic documentation.  They will combine their existing skills with our two-year training program that will include both design and construction aspects of survey, roadway layout, storm water systems, site plan & subdivision review, construction inspection, engineering audit, utility coordination, project management, project estimation, and Public presentations.

 

Although not required, a Professional Engineering (PE) License in the State of Maine, an Engineering in Training (EIT) Certification, field experience and or equivalent pertinent career experiences are preferred for the position.  A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering is a requirement.  The applicant must possess a valid Maine Drivers License and have an acceptable driving record per the City of Sanford.   Graduation from high school or equivalent also required.

 

This is a salaried position.  The typical hours of work are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.  Evening meetings held by the City Council as well as the Planning Board are each held twice a month and may be routinely required.
