EQUIPMENT OPERATOR I – HIGHWAY

            The City of Sanford is accepting applications to fill the position of Equipment Operator I.  Applicants must have (or obtain) and maintain a valid State of Maine Class II/B CDL operator’s license   Applicants must also possess a clean driving record.   

            The City of Sanford is now willing to train you so you can obtain your CDL if hired.

     Experience in the operation of light and moderately heavy to heavy equipment, and the ability to work from heights is required. Primary duties include the performance of manual labor tasks in connection with the operation of trucks or during completion of seasonal work projects. Equipment Operator I is also required to operate a dump trunk equipped with snow plowing and sanding equipment.  Please refer to position job description for position requirements. 

    The position is scheduled to 40 hours per week.  The starting pay for this position is listed in the attached Summary of Benefits.   Work is assigned and primarily carried out from the Director of Public Works, Assistant Director of Public Works or their designee.  Work assignments will encompass all areas of the City of Sanford.

The successful applicant is required to be available nights, holidays, and weekends as determined by the needs of the City during inclement weather, emergency situations, or at the discretion of the Director of Public Works and or their designee.

     All applicants for positions requiring a CDL are required to pass a drug test as a prerequisite of employment and must also successfully pass a background check to the satisfaction of the City.
