Police Officer - Part Time

 

 

The Phippsburg Police Department is looking to fill two Part-time Patrol Officer positions for a small, community-service oriented department.

 

The position requires approximately 500 hours annually, including training time. The majority of those hours are worked from Memorial Day through Labor Day, including evening and weekend shifts when summer tourism is the busiest. Occasional offseason (October-April) shifts will be expected as well.

 

Candidates must be 21 years old, possess a valid Maine driver’s license, possess a High School Diploma or GED, have no criminal history, and pass an extensive background check, physical, psychological exam, polygraph examination, and drug test. Seeking applicants with strong communication skills. The rate of pay starts at $24 per hour with starting pay negotiable depending on experience and qualifications. Preference given to applicants who have completed the Phase I and Phase II Pre-Service Training Programs. Candidates who have not attended the Pre-Service Training will be expected to attend the Pre-Service Training in May that is held in Auburn. Students must be 21 years old, or 20 years old with at least 60 credits from an accredited college, or age 19, currently enrolled in an accredited post-secondary education program.

 

The Town of Phippsburg will provide all uniforms, equipment and will pay for training when hired. The starting rate of pay is commensurate with experience. The Department will give preference to candidates who can make a two-year commitment.

We encourage applicants who have part-time or full-time certification to apply, however we are willing to train the right candidate.
