Course Information

Social media continues to be a popular and powerful tool to engage the public and effectively communicate municipal news and information. When used properly, you can increase engagement with your various constituencies and garner important feedback from them before you make decisions.

With many social media channels to choose from, do you know which platforms are most popular with your residents? This workshop provides municipal officials and staff with best practices that will help in planning and implementation of a social media strategy. The discussion will include tips on how to create an effective strategy, review social media policies, potential benefits, and possible concerns of using social media, overview of successful social media campaigns, a review of key laws and legal guidelines, as well as lessons learned.
