Course Information:
This workshop is designed to familiarize newly elected and appointed municipal clerks with their duties and responsibilities for this very important municipal office. Information will be provided to clerks from both small and large communities. Topics to be reviewed and discussed include: dog licensing, hunting, processing birth, marriage and death certificates, Election procedures such as preparing nomination papers, warrants, handling voter registration, conducting absentee voting and more; preparing meeting minutes and agendas, information on ordinances, conducting public hearings and administrating oaths of office, managing the appointments to the various town boards and committees and state monthly reporting procedures and more.

Day 2 of this training will provide an expanded opportunity for demonstrations and to address questions!

Certification: This class is an optional course for the Maine Town & City Clerks’ Association Certification Program. Participants must be present for the full day in order to receive a certificate of completion for the course.

Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations must be submitted using this Cancellation form to cancel your registration for an event. Cancellations received before 5/7/24 will be assessed a $15 administrative fee for processing. Cancellations received on/after 5/7/24 will be charged 50% of the course fee. Any registrant who does not attend and does not cancel their registration (i.e., no-show) and any cancellation received the day of the event will be charged the full registration fee.
