Code Enforcement Officer

The Town of Mechanic Falls is seeking a Full-Time Code Enforcement Officer.  Duties will include enforcing the health, safety, zoning and land use codes as well as the Maine Uniform Building and Energy Codes (MUBEC). This position is responsible for answering questions regarding Town Ordinances and adopted codes, documenting and investigating complaints pertaining to code violations, reviewing permit applications, and presenting completed applications to the Planning Board. The ideal candidate must possess outstanding customer service and communication skills.

Background in construction and/or planning is preferred. Experience as a code enforcement officer is a plus. The State of Maine Code Enforcement Certifications or the ability to obtain them within one year of hire is required. This position requires knowledge of the Maine State Plumbing Code, Maine Subsurface Wastewater Disposal Rules, State of Maine Shoreland Zoning Ordinance, and the Town of Mechanic Falls Land Use Ordinance. This position also serves as the Health Officer and the Safety Compliance Officer and reports directly to the Town Manager.
