We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Assessing Clerk to provide skilled administrative and customer service support to our Assessing Office 28 hours per week. This regular part-time position plays a key role in supporting the Bureau of Assessing, which is responsible for determining property values for municipal taxation. The Assessing Clerk performs a variety of routine and complex clerical tasks while fostering positive relationships with the public by delivering exceptional service. Responsibilities include assisting customers in person and over the phone with real estate and personal property tax matters, maintaining accurate records, and supporting overall office operations. This position works under the supervision of the Director of Assessing and involves frequent interaction with the public. Requirements High school diploma, or equivalent, and a minimum of two (2) years’ clerical or administrative work experience, plus prior customer service experience involving direct interaction with the public required. Any equivalent combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.

Compensation & Benefits This is a Regular Part-Time (28 hours per week) non-exempt hourly position. The FY25 pay range for Teamsters General Government Range 13 positions is $20.58 to $26.79 per hour, with an annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) and the potential for merit-based step increases. The actual rate of pay will depend on experience, qualifications, and budget availability. This position is eligible to participate in MainePERS Plan AC, which is a defined benefit retirement plan. Employees in this position do not pay into Social Security. Employees earn paid vacation, sick leave, and 13 paid holidays per year.
