POSITION:
The City of Auburn is seeking to fill a full-time position for a Mechanic. Must have experience in the preventive maintenance and repair of cars, pick-up trucks, heavy duty trucks and equipment such as loaders and excavators. Duties include inspecting and repairing cars, trucks, and construction equipment, overseeing preventive maintenance tasks, with working knowledge of hydraulic systems, electrical systems, brake systems, gas & diesel motors and other duties as required. A successful candidate must be extremely dependable, must meet the physical demands of the job, and be able to work in all weather conditions. Overtime shifts and being available for on-call work, often in inclement weather, are also required. Must have a High School diploma or GED; a good driving record, a Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), and a State Inspection License class A, D, and T issued by the State of Maine, (or able to obtain within the 6-month probationary period); as well as a certification in mechanics, and documented history of experience and training in this field. Additional pay will be applied for ASE certifications.
