This a highly responsible position overseeing the day-to-day maintenance activities of City property. This position oversees 2 maintenance assistance employees and 1 custodian; as well as working alongside the crew. Work involves working directly with the Public Works Director in organizing, coordinating and scheduling buildings and grounds maintenance activities such as mowing, weed whacking, trimming and cutting trees and brush. It is also responsible for the upkeep of city cemeteries, winter plowing of city owned property, parking lots and the maintenance of city sidewalks both winter and summer. Work involves a full range of maintenance responsibilities carried through on a daily basis. Knowledge in light carpentry, painting, plumbing and electrical repairs to buildings is desirable. Sound judgment and initiative are required in the performance of duties. This position requires independent judgment, with decision-making, along with frequent contact with outside contractors, vendors, department heads and the public. The Buildings and Grounds Foreman must have customer service skills when dealing with employees and the public. They must be courteous and respectful when giving instructions to crew members to ensure that each customer's specific needs are being met.
