Health and Human Services Department – Public Health Division – Portland Community Free Clinic

– Part-Time, Project position -

The City of Portland’s Clinical Health program, within the Public Health Division, is searching for a part-time (up to 32 hours a week) Clinical Health Practitioner who is passionate about healthcare and wants to make a difference in the lives of others. The primary role of the Clinical Health Practitioner will be oversight of the Portland Community Free Clinic (PCFC) which provides primary care services to uninsured low-income adults in Greater Portland.  The Clinical Health Practitioner will have a current medical license which affords them Full Practice Authority (APRN, NP or MD) and the experience to operate a free community clinic for vulnerable populations.  This is a highly skilled clinical practitioner position and involves the use of the advanced clinical process (evaluate patients, diagnose, order and interpret diagnostic tests and initiate and manage treatments including prescribing medications, drawing of blood and administering immunizations) for Free Clinic patients.  This position is responsible for paid and volunteer clinical staff and for optimizing efficiency and effectiveness in clinical care settings including the oversight and management of volunteer providers.  Program management includes administration of clinic, integration of multi-disciplinary teams, and collaborative strategic planning to meet community needs. 

This position will work out of our clinic at 39 Forest Avenue in Portland and requires a flexible schedule including at least one evening per week. The Clinic Health Practitioner will be instrumental in both individual and population health level initiatives that positively impact health outcomes. Candidates should demonstrate an independent, self-directed, and motivational work ethic, and have excellent skills in written and verbal communication.   Offers of employment are contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory criminal background check. 

This is a Pro-Tech union position - Grade 9M-CHP - Starting salary range $45.00-$49.17/hour.
