City of Portland - Event Services Staff - Waterfront & Cruise Ships - On Call

Public Assembly Facilities – Portland Ocean Terminal and Ocean Gateway Terminal
(April – November) Schedules are flexible and need will vary throughout the seasons based on port calls.

The City of Portland's 2025 Cruise Ship Season is quickly approaching, and we are happy to offer on-call port security positions to qualified and interested individuals. Well qualified candidates will be reliable, have a friendly disposition, possess great customer service skills, hold an innate desire to help others, and can pay attention to details and detect problems while multitasking.

The position will require staff to stand for at least three hours at a time and work shifts a minimum of six hours long. Cruise Ships make port calls in the City of Portland from the end of April to the beginning of November, so planning and dressing for Maine's ever changing weather conditions is an invaluable talent. As part of the Public Assembly Facilities Division, this position is also eligible for shifts at various other City facilities during events. These facilities include the Portland Exposition Building, Merrill Auditorium, Fitzpatrick Stadium, Hadlock Field, and Ocean Gateway.

Hourly Rate

$18.00/hr.
