Health and Human Services Department - Social Services Division - 166 Riverside

– Full-Time, (37.5 hours per week), Project position - Schedule:  Monday-Friday, 11am-7:30pm - Regular schedule includes additional flexible hours as needed.  Location operates 24/7 services and participation in an on-call rotation is required -

The Department of Health & Human Services is hiring a Program Coordinator to be based at the Emergency Shelter located at 166 Riverside Industrial Parkway. This is an administrative/management position, responsible for coordinating housing and community services at the Homeless Services Center. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for implementing established policies, as well as working closely with Division leadership to research and execute best practice models. Additionally, the Program Coordinator will assist with special projects as needed, especially when identified projects contribute to the City’s Plan to Prevent and End Homelessness.  A successful candidate in this position will have experience with hiring, training, and supervising staff. The Program Coordinator is responsible for scheduling employees, approving time off requests, and following established overtime procedures. This role will provide support within these areas to the housing staff, as well as prevention and diversion employees. 

Additional job duties include:  Oversight of the housing and community services initiatives and monthly statistical reports, and the accompanying data quality entry into Service Point (HMIS).  Supervise General Assistance billing for the shelter.  Work collaboratively with the Shelter’s Operations Coordinator to ensure all services are delivered in a manner that promotes a pathway to self sufficiency.  Requirements and experience:   Experience with Service Point or equivalent HMIS systems.  Knowledge of local homeless resources.  Prior experience with staff supervision and crisis management.  Prior experience working with a diverse population including chronically mentally ill, physically disabled, and substance addicted populations.  Ability to communicate effectively.  Ability and skill to provide excellent customer service

Education and certifications:  Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, or relevant and equivalent combination of experience and training in Social Services, including supervisory experience in a homeless shelter or homeless services program is required. Individuals must possess a valid Maine Class C driver’s license, with a clear driving record, and have access to a personal vehicle for work use. Offers of employment are contingent upon completion of satisfactory criminal background check. 

Compensation:  Pro-Tech Union position - Grade 6 – Pay rate starting $25.50 hourly.
