Assistant Fire Chief of Administration

 

 

The City of Sanford is seeking a highly qualified candidate to fulfill the position of Assistant Fire Chief of Administration.  This is a salaried position.

 

This position will perform supervisory, administrative, and technical work responsible for the advanced administrative and management responsibilities related to organizing and directing all activities of the department under the direction of the Fire Chief.  The successful candidate will have administrative responsibility of the daily operations and resource management of the Fire Department in overseeing areas of Emergency Medical Services (EMS), fire suppression, fire prevention, and related activities.  They will be responsible for assisting in all administration of the Fire Department and may assume the duties of the Fire Chief in their absence.

 

The successful candidate will assist in the planning, organizing and directing activities of the Fire Department under the direction of the Fire Chief.  This position will coordinate and direct the Fire Department administration to ensure uniformity, efficiency and safety. They will be responsible for participating in disaster preparedness, response, mitigation and recovery efforts, responsible for development and administration of the department’s standard operating guidelines, administer all testing, recruitment, and retention of positions, and assume role of HAZMAT Coordinator for emergency operations.

 

Applicants must have Associates Degree in Fire Science, Emergency Medical Services, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field; Bachelor’s Degree preferred; 5 years of service as Captain or higher rank or minimum 7 years command experience above rank of Firefighter; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.  Must possess a valid driver’s license, CDL; Pro Board or equivalent – Certified Fire Officer I and II, registered EMT (EMT-A or Paramedic preferred).  Mandatory Class/Certification Requirements within first 2 years include:  a) NIMS 100, 200, 300 & 400 & b) Pro Board or equivalent – Certified Fire Instructor 1&2.
