Assists in the production of television programs in various locations in the South Portland area; primarily including municipal meeting coverage, event coverage and community-interest pieces. Locations will include City Hall Council Chamber, other municipal facilities, schools and on location as needed. Tasks include the operation of remote control PTZ cameras, standard 4K field cameras, video and audio mixers/recorders, character generators, video recorders/streamers, hearing assistance system, wireless microphones, and video display equipment. Occasional post-production (editing) work is available from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, primarily evenings, up to and occasionally beyond midnight.
- Must be adaptable to changing production parameters including changes to scheduling, location, talent, equipment and time commitments before and during a production.
- Must be able to work independently and as a team player in various circumstances, often engaging with city staff, elected officials and the general public.
- Strong communication skills and interest in communication.
- Aptitude for learning technical skills.
- Must be motivated, responsible, dependable and proactive.
- Able to troubleshoot common problems that occur in a production environment and communicate issues promptly and effectively
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High School degree or equivalent required. Associates degree preferred.
- Two years previous experience in the communications environment preferred, training available.
- Possession of a valid Maine Class C Driver's License required.
PAY: $17.00 hourly. Municipal meeting coverage is a guaranteed three hour minimum regardless of meeting length. $17/hour after three hours. Example; 2.5 hour meeting is treated as 3 hrs x $17 = $51. All other productions paid hourly.
