The City of South Portland is currently seeking a 40 hour a week (four-day workweek) full-time Civil Engineer for our Public Works Department. Position Summary: This is a professional/technical position responsible for providing engineering services to the  Public Works Department. The Civil Engineer will be proficient in civil engineering principles and practices as relates to roadways, sidewalks, and multi-modal infrastructure.  Requirements include use of practical and advanced engineering techniques. The work required for this position is performed with a great degree of independence. 

Education: Bachelor’s degree in the field of Civil Engineering, or similar engineering degree with an emphasis on roads preferred.

Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of professional engineering experience. Professional Engineering License in the State of Maine required. Valid State of Maine driver’s license required.

Salary Range: $40.05 - $45.72/hr ($83,304.00 – $95,097.60 annually) depending on experience.  This position is eligible for annual step increases, and possible annual cost of living increases as approved by the City Council.
