The City of South Portland is currently seeking a 37.5 hour a week full-time Head Lifeguard/Weekend Supervisor to join our Parks Recreation and Waterfront Department. Position Summary: The Head Lifeguard/Weekend Supervisor is responsible for assisting with supervision and oversight of Aquatics and Beach Facilities. This position will additionally assist with supervision of staff and patrons associated with such facilities, and assist with planning, implementing, marketing, and supervising recreation programs and activities associated with Aquatics and Beach Facilities. Flexibility to work a schedule that will change based on seasonal needs is required.

Education: A High School diploma or equivalent is required.

Experience: Two (2) years of related experience in aquatics programming is required along with excellent grammar & vocabulary, familiarity with recreation or aquatic programming. Aquatic management and supervisory experience is highly preferred. Previous work experience within a municipality is preferred.

Must possess and maintain lifeguard certification and AED, CPR, and First Aid certifications. Must possess or obtain within one (1) year of hire CPO (Certified Pool Operator) certifications. Must possess or obtain within three (3) years of hire a LGI (Lifeguard Instructor) certification.

Salary Range: $18.95 – $23.09/hour ($36,952-$45,025 annually) depending on experience.  This position is eligible for annual step increases, and possible annual cost of living increases as approved by the City Council.
