The City of South Portland is currently seeking a 37.5 hour a week (option for four-day workweek) full-time Public Safety Administrative Assistant for our Police Department. Position Summary: This position performs a variety of routine and complex clerical, secretarial, and administrative work in maintaining department records, providing administrative support to the Police Department staff, and completing daily activities to meet the missions of the department.
Education: Associate’s degree from a technical school or equivalent, supplemented by specialized course work in general office practice required.
Experience: Five (5) years of related experience or any equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience, with additional work experience substituting for the required education on a year-to-year basis.

Salary Range: $23.55 - $26.83/hr ($45,922 – $52,318 annually) depending on experience. This position is eligible for annual step increases, and possible annual cost of living increases as approved by the City Council.
