The Town of Pownal has a full-time job opportunity for one Equipment Operator, Laborer in our Public Works Department. This position operates a variety of motor driven vehicles and equipment, performs manual labor, loads and unloads materials, assists in snow and ice removal operations and related responsibilities.

Qualified applicants are invited to apply, and should have at minimum:

  • Class B license or the ability to obtain a minimum Class B license within 6 months,
  • ability to operate or willingness to learn heavy construction equipment,
  • clean driving record,
  • physical capacity to perform heavy physical labor over extended periods,
  • good communication and teamwork skills, and
  • willingness and ability to work outside in all weather conditions.

Candidates with snow removal experience preferred but will train otherwise qualified applicants. The successful candidate is required to participate in a random federal motor carrier alcohol and substance abuse random testing program and must pass pre-employment background check to include a physical and alcohol and drug screen test.

The Town of Pownal offers a 4-day work week and a full benefits package including health, dental and vision insurance, 457B and PTO.
