The Town of Cumberland is hiring a full-time Equipment Operator. This position involves a combination of skilled and semi-skilled work within the Public Works Department.  The successful candidate must be able to drive and operate a truck with snowplow and wing, front-end loader with a bucket, and other miscellaneous road maintenance equipment. Must be extremely dependable and able to perform heavy physical labor, able to work in all weather conditions and will be required to work other than normal working hours during storms and emergency events. The work schedule is 4 ten-hour shifts, Monday through Thursday, from April 1st to November 1st and changes to 5 eight-hour shifts during the winter months. Must possess a valid State of Maine Class B Commercial Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of employment. The Town of Cumberland offers and generous benefit package including an on-call stipend during the winter months. Starting pay for this position is $26.30 but is adjustable based on qualifications and certifications per the Public Works Contract.
