EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT TO THE PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR

Are you ready to join a team that values excellence, professionalism, and community service?

The City of Sanford is seeking a dedicated, detail-orientated, and motivated Executive Assistant to support the Public Works Director in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.  This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a collaborative and forward-thinking team that plays a key role in maintaining and improving Sanford’s vital infrastructure.

As the Executive Assistant, you’ll be the organizational backbone of the department – coordinating high-level administrative and operational tasks, managing communications, tracking budgets and grants, supporting training and safety efforts, and helping to keep the department running efficiently.  You’ll be a trusted liaison between the Public Works Director and city staff, vendors, contractors and the public.

In this rewarding role you will be a key player in supporting critical infrastructure and public services, collaborate across city departments and external partners, make an impact through project coordination, problem-solving, and efficient processes.  You will be joining a respectful and supportive workplace where your skills are valued.

Three plus years of experience in administrative and office work of a progressively responsible nature involving extensive contact with the public is required (municipal or public works setting is a plus).  An ideal applicant will have strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.  Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and administrative software (experience with MUNIS and/or IworQ is a bonus) is a must.  The ability to maintain confidentiality, prioritize tasks, and work independently is highly valued.  A high school diploma or GED is required and an Associate’s degree is preferred; any equivalent combination of experience and training considered in lieu of the above. The applicant must be a Notary Public or eligible to become one.

Please refer to the job description for a complete list of the essential duties, responsibilities, additional required knowledge, special requirements, skills, and abilities for the position.

The City of Sanford offers a competitive salary, excellent benefits and an environment conducive to personal growth.
