The Town of Cumberland has a full-time opening for a Finance and Benefits Specialist. This position is responsible for managing both the financial records and employee benefits programs for the organization. This role involves ensuring accurate financial reporting and administering benefits like health insurance and retirement plans. They also provide guidance to employees on their benefits and ensure compliance with relevant regulations, receive and process all Town invoices for payment, review invoices entered by other departments for accuracy, issue checks and ensure positive pay with the bank, reconcile vendor statements on regular basis, reconcile daily cash outs from all cashiers, prepare daily bank deposit, and reconcile petty cash/change throughout the different Town departments. Work for these functions is performed under the supervision of the Director of Finance.

This is a responsible position related to the financial operation of the Town of Cumberland. The successful candidate must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently, well organized with strong attention to detail, able to multitask and prioritize workload, proficient with computers, exhibit strong written and oral communication skills, and ability to work collaboratively. Associate degree or substantial course work in human resources, business administration, finance or a related field (preferred). Minimum 5-7 years of experience in benefits administration, or relevant experience in human resources or related fields (essential). Prior experience in municipal/government finance (desirable). Prior experience with Munis accounting software (desirable).
