Job Summary: The Financial Analyst will serve as a key business advisor to the CFO, playing a crucial role in financial system optimizations, investment and cash management activities, and accounting oversight. This position requires a self-driven individual with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently with limited direction. The ideal candidate will be a team player, capable of collaborating with leadership as needed on operational initiatives and provide financial reporting needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accounting Oversight: Assist in the oversight of accounting functions, including reconciliations and financial reporting as needed by the Controller.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present detailed financial reports as requested by the CFO and other members of the leadership team.
  • Business Advisory: Act as a strategic advisor to the CFO and Controller, providing insights and recommendations to support decision-making.
  • Budgeting and Planning: Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, working with the Management Team to ensure alignment with both departmental and organizational goals.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct detailed financial analyses, which may include actuarial modeling, revenue and expense forecasting, benchmarking, and scenario planning to support business decisions and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Financial Reporting: Assist in the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process. Prepare and analyze monthly and quarterly financial reports, including budget-to-actual variance analysis. Coordinate with department owners to explain performance drivers and key variances.
  • Investment and Cash Management: Oversee investment activities and cash management for MMA, Health Trust, Workers Compensation Trust, Property and Casualty Trust, ensuring optimal utilization of resources that align with cash and investment goals established by the Boards.
  • Operational Initiatives: Assist internal leaders on various operational initiatives to drive business performance and automation.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of financial operations. 

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field. A master’s degree, Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation is encouraged.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in budgeting, financial analysis, or a related financial role, and experience in a public sector or large organizational environment.
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
    • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy.

Work Environment:

  • This position is primarily on-site, with potential opportunities for flexible work-from-home arrangements at the discretion of the supervisor.
