The Goodwin’s Mills Fire-Rescue is accepting applications for full-time Fire Chief.

Applicants must hold current EMT License (Basic or higher), Firefighter II certification is required (Fire Officer II or Maine Certified Chief Fire Officer is preferred). NIMS/ICS 400 is preferred. A valid Driver’s License (Class B preferred) and completion of an approved Emergency Vehicle Operator’s Course is required. High school diploma or equivalent is also a requirement. 12-years fire service /EMS experience required, with 5-years in a leadership/management position. Experience in leading a combination fire department is highly desirable.
Selected applicants may be invited to participate in a physical agility test (physician’s clearance required) and participate in an interview process. Prior to any job offer a criminal background check, driver’s license check, sex offender registry check, work history review and a credit check may be conducted.

The Goodwins Mills Fire Rescue serves the communities of Lyman and Dayton, Maine. With a combined year-round population of 6,654 residents which can swell to 10,000 in the summer months. The Department covers an area of 57 square miles and handles around 1,000 Emergency calls per year. Operating eight pieces of apparatus from a single station. Our station is staffed 24/7 with two - three Firefighter/EMTs. Our staffing consists of a combination of full time, per diem, and call personnel. The Fire Chief is full-time and at the station during regular business hours. The department also hosts two live-in SMCC students. There is an active call force whose strength is at 45 members.
-The Fire Chief is salaried and exempt. Salaries are based on qualifications and experience. $90,000-$100,000
-Health & Dental paid 100% for the employee.
-Life Insurance is paid for the employee.
-Maine State Retirement plan 2C, may change to 3C July 1 based on town vote in June
-Accrued paid time-off plan.
-Uniform allowance.
