The Town of Dover-Foxcroft is seeking an experienced, motivated, and forward-thinking leader to serve as Fire Chief of the Dover-Foxcroft Fire Department. This is a full-time, salaried position, with compensation based on qualifications and experience. The position includes a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave. About the Position:
The Fire Chief is responsible for overseeing the operations, administration, and strategic direction of the Fire Department, including fire suppression, EMS first response, training, personnel management, budgeting, and community engagement. The Chief will play a key role in the Town’s evolving emergency medical service delivery model and work closely with local and regional partners. Additionally, the Fire Chief will collaboratively work with the Town’s Code Enforcement Officer.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Directing all activities of the Fire Department and leading a combination department of full-time and call company members.
- Overseeing EMS licensure, compliance, and operational readiness.
- Preparing and managing the department’s operating budget.
- Ensuring ongoing training, safety, and development of personnel.
- Coordinating with Town leadership, law enforcement, regional EMS providers, and mutual aid partners.
- Responding to emergency incidents and providing incident command as needed.
- Working alongside Code Enforcement Officer.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Maine State Fire Fighter 1
- Minimum of 10 years of fire service experience, with at least 3 in a supervisory or command role.
- EMS license preferred (EMT-B or higher), or ability to obtain.
- ICS 100, 200, 700, 300 and 400, or ability to obtain.
- Strong knowledge of Maine EMS rules, Maine Uniform Building and Energy Code (MUBEC), fire code and municipal operations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Valid Maine driver’s license, EVOC Certified
