The City of Gardiner Fire/Rescue Department is now accepting applications for a full-time

Firefighter/Paramedic. This is an entry level Firefighter/Paramedic position with the City and an outstanding opportunity for a dynamic, motivated professional to become a valued member of the Gardiner Fire/Rescue family.

Gardiner Fire/Rescue provides Paramedic level EMS services to 8 communities completing approximately 3000 EMS calls and 200 fire calls per year. Gardiner Fire and Ambulance provides EMS service to eight communities covering an area of 173 square miles and provides fire coverage for the City of Gardiner and is part of an active automatic and mutual aid group of communities. This is a 42-hour per week position working a 24 on 72 off schedule. Successful candidates will be involved in fire suppression, EMS, fire prevention, and other duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be a current AEMT or paramedic provider. Paramedic level strongly preferred.  If you are not a paramedic you will be required to become a paramedic within 2 years of hire date.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • College degree from an accredited university preferred.
  • Must possess a valid Maine driver’s license, with a clean record.
  • Must have a minimum of Basic Fire School Firefighter I and/or II certification is preferred.
  • Candidate must complete a physical agility examination, EMS test station, peer oral interview as well as an extensive background check.
