The Fleet Technician position(mechanic) is a technical position assisting the Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor in carrying out the duties of the Vehicle Maintenance division of the Department of Public Works.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, maintaining equipment used by the department in optimal operating condition by diagnosing and repairing equipment; inspecting and carrying out preventive maintenance on vehicles; and welding and fabrication on plows and other heavy equipment and other small equipment. Work is based on daily observation and results.

This position is a 4-day, 40-hour work week at the newer Shared Maintenance Facility.  We offer a competitive array of benefits as well as the option to enroll in the Maine State Retirement System.  The starting hourly wage for this position is $26.889/hr - $28.441/hr.  A commercial driver's license is preferred as well as Inspection License.
